Documentary Wedding Photographer
capturing the emotions of your wedding day
Hi I’m Louise, a documentary wedding photographer. I’m passionate about capturing the special moments of your wedding day so that you can relive them forever.
First, I want to say massive congratulations. Planning a wedding is such an exciting time. I love getting to know you and I often feel that I’m going on the adventure too. By the time the big day arrives and I’m capturing it with my camera, I am as emotionally involved as the other guests. As a documentary wedding photographer, my images express the emotion of your day as it all happened. It’s not unheard of that I shed a little tear of happiness too!
Fun-loving documentary style wedding photographer
People have told me many times that I am down to earth and fun, which is such a compliment. The most important thing to me is that you feel relaxed when photographed. It’s so lovely, as a wedding photographer, when people tell me that I made them feel comfortable.
I photograph weddings in a candid documentary style, telling your unique wedding day story as it happens. Being creative with light is part of my style, so a few beautiful portraits and a handful of formal shots will be included too, if that’s what you’d like.
"Louise Sullivan, you were truly fantastic and professional, it also felt like you were one of the family and wedding party, you were unobtrusive and yet you got right in amongst us and captured our wedding beyond our dreams and expectations. It goes so so quickly that I keep revisiting the gallery as I haven't had time to choose my albums yet... talk about falling on your feet... we really did. Thank you so much." Karla, Bride
My documentary approach is simple
I photograph the day as it happens, fly-on-the-wall style. My style is often called documentary wedding photography. It can also be referred to as wedding photojournalism or reportage wedding photography. With me as your wedding photographer, there is little or no posing. I won't be directing you and your guests around. Instead I will be capturing those special moments as they happen naturally. My job is telling the story of your wedding day with unobtrusive, candid photography. When you look at your wedding album, the photos will tell the story of one of the most important days of your life.
Your Wedding Day Captured
It’s the little moments as well as the big ones which make the day so memorable. It’s the ones where your loved ones see you for the first time in your wedding dress, which brings a tear to their eye. It’s the time that your best friend trips over your wedding dress, almost spilling her glass of champagne. It’s the expression on your face when you’re listening to an emotional speech. It’s captured moments like these, that bring it all to life again. As a documentary wedding photographer, I’ll be there to tell your story with all these special moments. I’m relaxed but attentive and I put people at ease. As your wedding photographer, I’m 100% focused and completely in the zone. Your guests may think I’m another guest with a camera because I won’t interrupt the flow of your day. If you’d like me to create some beautiful couple shots, that’s fine but I won’t take you away from all the fun for long.
"I’ve never asked anyone to “smile” at a wedding but I have photographed tears!" Louise Sullivan, Documentary Wedding Photographer
Memories that last lifetimes
Imagine, in years to come when your grandchildren are pouring over your wedding album and asking you all about it. You'll still get that warm feeling like the day it happened. Your wedding album will hold so many memories and will have become a family heirloom.
Because I believe that “a photograph is not a photograph unless it is printed”, all my clients receive a beautiful individually designed wedding album. Most wedding photographers do not include an album but will charge around £500 extra for one. I work only with the best suppliers, using professional quality print and stylish albums.
Pre-Wedding and Engagement Photography
your life ahead together
If you’ve got engaged, congratulations. It’s one of the most exciting times of your life as you plan your wedding and look forward to a life together. Let’s celebrate this moment and mark the occasion with an engagement photo-shoot. Pre-wedding photography can be a really relaxed experience and a chance to have some fun too. A pre-wedding engagement shoot is a great way to get used to being photographed ahead of the main event. You don't have to have booked me for your wedding photography to have an engagement photo shoot with me. A great way to see if you like me, my style and my photography before making that decision.
Romantic locations for an engagement photography shoot
Location shoots are the most popular option for pre-wedding and engagement photography. Locations vary between romantic Brighton seafront to nostalgic Bluebell Railway. You may choose to go to a park or woodlands. As an alternative, you may fancy a shoot around the gritty back streets of urban Brighton. You might choose somewhere which holds special memories for you. You might want to go to the place you got engaged. Wherever the location, it’s your choice.
“Thank you so much for our engagement photos. They are stunning, and we love them loads. Having never done something like this before we were a little nervous about having forced photos but Louise put us at ease instantly and took some really great shots. Will definitely be recommending to friends and family.” Sammy L
